MICHAEL DELAHAYE was trained by the BBC and for twenty-five years worked as a reporter, correspondent and producer, respectively, for BBC TV News & Current Affairs. He covered elections, earthquakes, mass shootings and military take-overs, interviewing people as diverse as Rudolf Nureyev, Roy Rogers, Marina Oswald, Joyce McKinney, Shimon Peres and the Ayatollah Khomeini. Since 1998, he has worked as an independent documentary producer and as an international media consultant for the Thomson Foundation UK* and Internews US in more than twenty countries: the United States, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Romania, Slovenia, Bosnia, Malta, Macedonia, Namibia, Malawi, Syria, Lebanon, Qatar, Bangladesh, Guyana - and eight of the former Soviet Republics: Russia, Georgia (including Abkhazia), Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Kirghizia and Uzbekistan
Delahaye specialises in Human Rights, Journalistic Ethics and Conflict Resolution. Funders include the British Foreign Office, the UK Lottery Charities Board, the Robert Bosch Foundation, the European Union, the OSCE, UNICEF, UNESCO and USAID
From 2007 to 2011, he was Lead Trainer for the CIRCOM [European Association of Regional Television] Summer Academy, held every year in Nuremberg, Germany, for the development of young European TV journalists
Delahaye is currently a trainer for the Al Jazeera Satellite Channel in the Gulf State of Qatar, where since 2004 he has trained both Al Jazeera’s own staff and television journalists from across the Arab world. He has also acted as a trainer/consultant for Al Jazeera America in Washington DC and New York, and for Al Jazeera Balkans in Sarajevo, Bosnia
